“Sustaining ---
And Being Sustained”
Genesis 2:18 by Atsushi Tsuneki,
Testimony: Heather
Worsham (Translated
by Satomi Fukuya)
In Genesis 2:18, God says
something isn’t
right. He says, “It
is not good for the man to be
alone.”
Fall has not yet
occurred. Even though this man was in a state of sinless perfection,
he was “alone.” And it was “not
good.” That is why, God made “helpers.” He made one another so
that we could be helpers for one
another. The
truth is: God uses humans to heal humans more than anything.
I’m sure you had
helpers when you were in trouble. I’m
sure you had somebody who tried to support you when you didn’t know what to do. Or you may have had people who cried for you. I believe that many people helped us to get to where we are now. If we
realize that, don’t we be filled
with thankfulness?
And if we open our
eyes and see the reality, we realize that we are taken care of by God, from
the cradle to the
grave.
If humans try not to be
taken by anybody and try
to live on our own, we are
filled
with deep loneliness and
anxiety. But we would have a solid peace if we have a joy of faith we are taken care of by God. Today we have Sis. Heather
Worsham testifying her faith. Please welcome!

The Right Place,
The Right Time Acts
8:26-40
by Atsushi
Tsuneki
Philip finds
himself in the right place at the right time to help the Ethiopian take a decisive step to faith in Christ. It may be the
most important
encounter
the Ethiopian
ever has, yet it is
brief.
You may find
yourself in
Philip's
situation
today, tomorrow, or the
next day. We
find ourselves––unexpectedly––in
the right time and the right place to respond, to make a difference for people like Philip's
Ethiopian,
who wait to hear the good news and then to go on their way rejoicing. It's
strange and
unexpected, but
the time and place are right for us, a situation to
which God has led us. We
must respond in faith.

(Voice file from here)

“Growing Deeper, Going Beyond” Acts 9:1-6
By Joel Osborne
At the beginning of this fiscal year, we selected
Acts 1:8 as the scripture,
and “Growing Deeper, Going Beyond” as our theme for the year along with three goals of ways we hope to grow spiritually. Just as the disciples in
the book of Acts
experienced, our
prayer is that Mito Church will be released to the power of the Holy Spirit
enacted in our lives to be witnesses in Mito, in
Japan, and beyond into the whole world. As we read through Acts, let’s be
mindful of these goals, and also allow ourselves to be involved with the text.
Acts 9 focuses on
the life change and
mission of several
people. Paul especially
experiences a dramatic
life change and
altered mission focus on the road to Damascus. His question to
Jesus in verse 5 is significant, and Jesus response following is
even more significant.
Our tendency is to focus on what we do or know about Jesus, rather
than knowing Jesus himself intimately. Through knowing Jesus, Paul also receives his mission. Jesus doesn’t immediately
tell Paul what he’ll do or how he’ll do it, but
only where to go. Paul is obedient to this call.
Likewise, as disciples of
Jesus in Mito, our
challenge is to
know our Master intimately
and respond to his call to mission obediently even if we don’t know all of the details. In fact, we don’t need to know – we need to learn to trust our Master Jesus, who is in
control. Finally, our
prayer comes from verse 31: seeking to walk in the fear of the Lord, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit,
trusting
that we will experience growth spiritually
and numerically
through his power at work and moving amongst us.

“No Wall or
Limit for the Holy Spirit” Acts
10:34-48
by Atsushi Tsuneki
In today’s
passage, there is a man called Cornelius.
Cornelius
served in the Roman Army. Surprisingly,
Cornelius was
a devout man. Even though Cornelius was
a Gentile, he had a
good reputation among the Jews.
According to
the verse 2, we are
told that his entire household feared God. Cornelius was
a good man who was
good to people, and giving gifts of charity. And
he was a man who continually
prayed. So, he was a man who
invested his time & money for prayers and charity.
God knows
everything of
Cornelius.
A man who truly fears God. A man who tryies to
please God. God
never forsakes this kind of person. And yet God
said that Cornelius
needed to be saved. There are a lot of
good people in this world. But a person like a Christian
needs to be a Christian. A
better person than Christians
cannot be
saved by just being a good person. Because “there is no righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10)
Cornelius did
charity
work. He continually
prayed to God. He was a
righteous man in the
sight of others. But, he still needed a savior. God wants His people to do good, but our salvation is not based on the good deeds that we have done. We want to
study from this Cornelius
today.
