「力を尽くして」 〜信仰に加えて〜

第一ペトロの手紙の説教シリーズが終わって、今日から第2ペトロの手紙に入ります。今日読んでいただいた箇所で、ペトロは、「霊的成長」について教えています。まず、信仰が土台です。ヘブライ11：6にも、「信仰がなければ、神に喜ばれることはできません」と書いてあります。けれども、信仰だけで終わらないのです。
■ 信仰だけでは足りない！
私たちは、神様に導かれて、バプテスマを受けて、クリスチャンになりました。けれども、ペトロは、こう教えているのです。私たちは信仰を持つだけでは終わらない。神様が私たちを救い出してくださった。でも、そこでストップするのではないですよ、ということなのです。ただ神様を信じています。それで終わりじゃない。そこから、具体的に、実を実らせていく必要がある訳なのです。神様がこの私を救い出して下さったということを、神様に対してというよりも、この世に対して、証ししていく必要があるのだ、ということなのです。
そして、霊的成熟は、自動的にやっては来ない。「努力」を必要とします、ということなのです。では、信仰に加えて、何を加えなさい、と言っているのか。ペトロが挙げている７つの特性について考えてみたいと思います。

“Make
Every Effort: Add to Faith”

We just
finished
the sermon series from 1st Peter, and now we are
starting to
learn from 2nd Peter today. In today’s scripture,
Peter talks about “spiritual
growth” or “spiritual
formation.”
See 2 Peter 1:5. We can see the list of components
of our spiritual
growth or spiritual
development as an ongoing
process.
Faith is the foundation on
which all the other virtues are built. But he’s providing a list that we need to add to our lives to build on our faith.
■ Faith is not enough!
When we are called to
faith in Jesus Christ, we became Christians.
But Peter
says that you and I
need more than just possessing
faith. What Peter is saying is that God has called us, God has selected
to save us, and we
have faith through Jesus Christ, and He gave us the Holy Spirit – but
he says don’t stop
there!! He says
that’s not enough for my spiritual
side, because spiritual
growth is not automatic.
Yes, I have the faith, but I have a responsibility to work hard to prove, not to God, but to
the world, that God has called me and chosen
me.
And spiritual
maturity doesn’t come automatically; it requires “hard work.”
So let us see seven interlocking
Holy Spirit
based principles that Peter raises up, to help us with our spiritual
side.

「偽の言葉と真実の言葉」

ペトロは、今日の聖書箇所で、教会の中に偽教師が現れる危険について記しています。偽教師は、外から教会を攻撃することもあるけれども、教会の中から現れて、攻撃してくるのですよ。歴史を通して、数千年前から、偽教師がいたのですよ。そういう時が来ますよ。だから、気をつけていなさいよ、と警告している訳です。大抵の場合、最初は気が付かないことが多い。なぜなら、「ひそかに」やって来ると書いてあります。（1節） ひそかに、滅びをもたらす教えを持ち込んで、それによって、自分自身も、周りも巻き込んで滅びに向かう、と言っているのです。
実は、偽預言者は、旧約聖書の時代から見られます。（1列王記22:1〜22、イザヤ9:14-15、エゼキエル34:1〜31） イエス様も、偽預言者について語っておられます。（マタイ7:15〜23、24:11〜28） 新約聖書の時代にも、偽預言者に関して、たくさんの箇所で記されています。（使徒20:28〜32、2コリント10:1〜11:15、ガラテヤ1:6-9; フィリピ 3:1-2; コロサイ2:8-15; 1テサロニケ1:3-12; 1テモテ1:3-7; 4:1〜5、6:3-5;
2 テモテ 2:14-26; 3:2-8, 13; 4:14-18; テトス 1:10-16; 3:9-11; ヘブライ12:15〜17、2ペトロ3:16〜18、1ヨハネ 2:18-27; 3:4-10; 4:1-6; 2ヨハネ7-11; 3 ヨハネ9-12; ユダ)
たとえば、使徒言行録では、パウロは、エフェソの長老たちに、このように警告しています。
使徒20:28〜32
「わたしが去った後に、残忍な狼どもがあなたがたのところへ入り込んで来て群れを荒らすことが、わたしには分かっています。また、あなたがた自身の中からも、邪説を唱えて弟子たちを従わせようとする者が現れます。だから、わたしが三年間、あなたがた一人一人に夜も昼も涙を流して教えてきたことを思い起こして、目を覚ましていなさい。そして今、神とその恵みの言葉とにあなたがたをゆだねます。この言葉は、あなたがたを造り上げ、聖なる者とされたすべての人々と共に恵みを受け継がせることができるのです。」
それでは、今の時代を生きる私たちは、どうすればいいのか？ どうすれば、私たちは偽の教え、偽教師を見分けることができるのでしょうか？今日は、そのことを皆さんと共に、考えてみたいと思っています。

“False Words and Words
of Truth”
2 Peter
2:1-3, 17-20

In the 2nd chapter of his letter, Peter says that
false teachers
prey on the church not only
from the outside, but they
can also arise from
within
the church. These
teachers
are often unrecognized,
especially
in their
earliest forms. Yet, they secretly
introduce
false teaching,
teachings
which are destructive to themselves
and to all who follow
them. So, Peter assures us that
we should
look for false
teachers
to arise.
Actually, false prophets
did arise
throughout
the history
of Israel
(1 Kings
22:1-22; Isaiah 9:14-15; Ezekiel 34:1-31). Jesus also warned of false prophets
(Matt 7: 5-23, 24:11-28). The
apostles
also had much
to say about
false prophets and teachers
(Acts 20:28-32; 2 Cor 10:1-11:15; Gal 1:6-9; Phil 3:1-2; Col 2:8-15; 1 Thess 1:3-12; 1 Tim 1:3-7, 4:1-5;
6:3-5; 2 Timothy
2:14-26; 3:2-8; 13; 4:14-18; Titus
1:10-16; 3:0-11; Heb 12:15-17; 2 Peter
3:16-18; 1 John 2:18-27; 3:4-10; 4:1-6;
2 John 7-11; 3 John
9-12; Jude).
For example, Paul warns the elders of the Ephesian church:
“Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which
the Holy Spirit
has made you overseers.
Be shepherds
of the church of God, which
he bought
with his own blood. I know
that after
I leave,
savage
wolves will
come in among you and will
not spare
the flock.
Even from
your own number men will
arise
and distort
the truth
in order to draw
away disciples
after them.
So be on your guard! Remember that
for three years
I never
stopped
warning
each of you night and day with
tears.”
(Acts 20:28-32)
So
what can we do? How can we identify
false teaching
and false teachers?

聖書は、私たちが、「永遠の視点」から人生を考えるようにということを教えています。旧約聖書に登場するノアも、その後確実に訪れる世界の終わりを知りながらも、そのことで慌てふためいたり自暴自棄になったりしませんでした。今なすべき自分の責任を放棄したり、投げやりになったりもしませんでした。また、神様の裁きの声を無視して何事もなかったかのように平静を装ったりするのでもありませんでした。神の裁きの時、世界の終わりの時を知ってなお、箱舟の建造に取りかかっていく、新しく前向きに創造していく人生を送るのです。
今を生きる私たちにとって、「主の再臨を待ち望んで生きる」とは、どういう毎日を生きることなのか。永遠に目をとめる人生とは、どういう生き方なのか。今日は、そのことを考えてみたいと思います。

“Because We Know the End”
2 Peter 3:1-15

The Bible teaches us to consider our life here on
the earth
as a part of the whole eternal life.
Noah in the Old Testament knew
that the end of the world was coming, but he didn’t
panic
or lead into
self-destruction. He didn’t
give up his responsibility.
He didn’t become slapdash
and drop into the existential
manner
of life. Or he didn’t pretend
like nothing
had happened,
ignoring the voice
of God’s judgment. Knowing God’s judgment
and the end of the world,
Noah still started construction
of the Ark
and spent
a positive,
constructive
way of living.
For us who live
now, what does
it mean to live
waiting
for the Lord’s second coming? What
kind of life
is it to live with
the viewpoint
of eternity?
Today I want
us to learn
how the Bible
teaches
about
our life from
the viewpoint
of eternal
life.
