“Dying to the Old Self”
Ephesians
4:17-24

Our family, our job, eating, healthy
body, sure, these are not eternal thing, these pass away… But God created even
these passing things and given to us for our joy and pleasure. Rejoicing and
enjoying the gift given by God is never contradictory to rejoicing God. Rather
it is important to rejoice and enjoy the gift. Jesus said, “If anyone would
come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me”
(Luke 9:23). So what does it mean to die to ourselves?

Knowing the
necessity of the personal devotional time, we don’t spend enough time for that,
do you? What things can we do to have the personal devotional time? What’s the
purpose of the personal devotional time first of all?

“Saved
Through Water”
1
Peter 3:18-22

If
someone were to ask you to explain how Noah and his family were saved from the
flood’s destruction, what would you say? The answer may seem obvious, but
what would your answer be? The Bible’s answer is instructive. Peter
wrote that Noah and his family were actually “saved through water” (1 Peter 3:20).
Now that’s
an interesting answer?“saved through water.” One might not think of the
flood waters saving people while at the same time destroying people. But
they did. The same water that obliterated the wicked world carried Noah
and his family far above the destruction, and eventually brought them safely to
rest.
Right
after revealing to us that eight souls were “saved through water,” Peter then
writes, “There is also an antitype which now saves us - baptism…” (1
Peter 3:21). He says baptism is involved. Let us think of deeper meaning
of baptism and salvation through water today.
