Jesus described
becoming a Christian as a new birth. In order to bear new fruits, just doing little
things partially for the tree is just a surface matter, so transformation would
never happen. We require a complete change at the root or base of who we are.
It is important to remember that we must be “re-parented” in a spiritual
family. Discipleship, then, must include honest reflection on the positive and
negative impact of our family of origin as well as other major influences in
our lives.

Macedonian
Churches managed to give and help the Jerusalem Church in spite of their
poverty. They were not wealthy Church either. They were in the middle of
persecution, difficulties, and poverty. However, they “gave as much as
possible, even beyond their ability, entirely on their own.” Why could
Macedonian Churches give that much? Because they had plentiful money? No! They
were also in need. Then how come could they do that?
